Interior: Flexible open space with full bathroom featuring dual-flush toilet and low-flow fixtures. Sustainable materials used throughout. We are happy to show you to building in person so that you may get ideas to create your own space within the building.
Exterior: FSC-Certified, locally-milled wood siding; FSC-certified Ipe Brazilian hard wood decking, FSC-certified Mahogany trim. Standing-seam metal roof with high recycled content (lasts 50 years +). Roof is ready for solar panel installation.
Systems: High-Efficiency, low-sone (quiet) exhaust fan for ventilation; Dawn Solar thermal collector below the roof with capacity for hot water heating (which can be 15% of a buildings energy consumption).
Structure: Exterior walls from thermally-broken “structural insulated panels” (SIP’s) by InsulSpan. Folding roof will be “Simpson-clipped” tied down on site. Complete insulation and air barrier is achieved using eco-friendly non toxic, non flammable, spray and injection foams. Spray insulation in roof and floor is assumed to be added at site.
Design: The building is designed to face south. The overhang is part of a passive solar design that features optimally located and sized super-efficient windows by Accurate Dorwin to enable both passive heating in winter and solar avoidance in summer. Windows are operable to enable cross ventilation and clerestory windows enable natural ventilation/cooling.
Price: The cost of the building as is, not including delivery, is $15,000. Delivery charges may vary based on location. We only deliver to locations within New England.
