Community land on Nisenan Ancestral Homelands, 10 minutes from downtown Nevada City. Currently 4 families and a few adults on the land. We value proactively attending to relationships, open-mindedness and non-dogmatism, honoring Indigenous people and wisdom, more bikes/fewer cars, racial justice and reducing ecological impacts of being modern humans. To care for our relationship with the land, we regularly come together for work days and have a commitment for everyone on the land to participate in a minimum of 8 hours of land work/month. To care for our relationships with each other, we come together in Council once a month and ask that everyone participate. These two things are vital parts of our commitment to reciprocity, groundedness, honesty and accountability, which we hold as values that strengthen our community. We prefer no pets - we will consider 1 dog or cat.
Land internet is 20Mbps down, 10 Mbps up. It’s available in and around the shared barn, as well as at certain homesites.
Some other features on the land: organic community garden and orchard, perennial creek, miles of biking/hiking trails, community movement/music/study space, wood shop, outdoor cob oven, shared laundry (washing machine/hang dry), primitive campsites, sawmill, grid-tied solar power. We'd love to have another community member on the land with time/skill/interest to run the mill - can be for land projects as well as personal projects.
