This was a wonderful project for me. I hired a contractor to build my home up to a certain point. He took care of everything on the outside, he roughed in the electric and the plumbing, installed the shower, installed the door and the windows, and he was always on hand if we needed him. From there, my father and I took over. Every evening after work, and on the weekends, we picked up a hammer and got to it. The project took us about ten months, but it was well worth it. I'd stay here for many more years if I could, but that's life for you. It's time for someone else to live here now.
Almost everything in here was installed new.
Here's a list of some of the best features:
Separett composting toilet
Splendide washer/dryer combo
24" Avanti gas oven
Custom room-darkening shades
Cabinets and storage built by Jim Bradford at Behind the Bark Carpentry
Grey Quartz countertops
Handmade sliding barn door
Built-in shelves
Handmade ladder leading up to the storage loft
Dog door
ClimateRight Mini Split Air Conditioner and Heater
Heat Storm Portable Quartz Infrared Heater (For the really cold season)
30" Refrigerator (bought at a scratch 'n' dent sale)
Detachable deck
EZ tankless hot water heater
Greywater tank
Water-proof NuCore flooring
Obviously, there's more, but the pictures should cover what I left out. As with anything, there are a few cons. I want to be honest about them.
The water in the shower is cold on the hot side and hot on the cold side
Scratches on the refrigerator
A scratch on the floor (the floor is mostly scratch resistant, but during the move-in process, things are bound to happen)
Those are all the cons that I can come up with. I can't wait to here from you guys!
